I recently designed + calligraphed a Certificate of Marriage!!! WOOHOOOO!

This commission was one of the most challenging calligraphy projects I've done so far, and also one of the most touching, because the couple didn't commission it: the officiant did! She wanted to surprise newlyweds Mark & Jason with a custom, hand-drawn, personalized piece of art to frame in their home forever.

She insisted these guys were wayyyy too cool to be gifted anything ordinary or state-issued. She kindly asked to include navy, gold, and ivory (their wedding colors). I chose a combination of my signature sans-serif modern uppercase hand lettering with whimsical modern calligraphy.

I was really inspired by the elements from Mark & Jason's wedding program and their favorite quote, so I wanted to be sure there were subtle design elements included in the final design to make sure they knew this was a one-of-a-kind personalized gift.

It was such an honor to work on this heartfelt project. Admittedly, I was really quite torn to finally package it up and ship it off!! I am hoping to do some more custom marriage certificates, similar in style to this one.
